Unconventional Technology Paving the Way for Geothermal Development
Monday, 17 June 2024, 3:20 p.m.–4:40 p.m. | Houston, Texas
Course Content
Unconventional oil and gas technologies have paved the way for hydrocarbon production from some of the most challenging reservoirs in the world. These technologies including hydraulic fracturing, steam injection, and directional drilling are now being utilized to pave the way for geothermal energy; particularly enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). Currently geothermal energy is only a small contributor to the world’s energy generation, however through development of EGS it is expected to be a major part of the transition. This session will show how the technologies from oil and gas are paving the way to convert heat into a sustainable, reliable energy.
