Who Should Attend

Production, completion and reservoir engineers as well as operations staff will benefit from this course. The course is taught at the intermediate level and is best suited for students who have a basic level of knowledge or experience in oil & gas production operations including some experience with artificial lift methods. Due to the strategic nature of the discuss, managers of unconventional developments will also benefit from the course.

Objectives

To provide a wide-ranging view of the artificial lift landscape for onshore unconventional developments with emphasis on the latest thinking and concepts for lift systems. This highly interactive course will provide an objective third party perspective. It provides an opportunity to learn what strategies are working to provide value over the production life-cycle. The course will discuss proper selection of the artificial lift method and highlight this as critical to sustaining production and achieving best-in-class performance in the key areas of Lifting Cost and Lease Operating Expense (LOE).

Course Content

The course will discuss successful artificial lift approaches currently in use and emerging technologies.

Topics include:
  1. The inherent slugging tendencies of horizontal wells and methods of stabilizing production
  2. New high-rate uses of artificial lift using ESP’s, Jet Pumps and Gas-Lift
  3. Recent advance in ESP gas/sand handling
  4. The new Liquid Assisted Gas-Lift (LAGL) method
  5. Surface facility considerations for multi-well pad artificial lift
  6. Forming an artificial lift strategy for the well life
