SC-07 Navigating ESG Reporting Requirements for Unconventionals: A Toolkit (SEG)
Sunday, 8 June 2025, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | Houston, Texas
Course Content
This 8-hour course focuses on the crucial role of geosciences and engineering in enhancing profitability and economic value in the sustainable energy sector. Participants will learn about international sustainability frameworks, including the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ESG reporting/ranking schemes, and how to implement corporate sustainability strategies for decarbonization, societal well-being, and governance compliance.
The course offers a practical toolkit tailored to unconventional resources, covering decarbonization, recycling, repurposing, and synergistic energy systems (oil and gas, solar, wind, geothermal, minerals). Participants will engage with real-world examples and case studies to understand the impact of ESG parameters on oil and gas operators' success, enhancing their professional value proposition, maximizing financial returns, and energizing their entrepreneurial journeys.
Participants will:
- Embed sustainability into their geoscientific and engineering activities.
- Unlock new revenue streams through ESG principles.
- Gain a competitive edge and attract investment with purpose-driven proposals.
Key elements covered:
- Global, national, and corporate sustainability frameworks.
- Implementing corporate Net-Zero and other sustainability strategies across operations.
- ESG frameworks for reporting (GRI, SASB, TCFD) and ranking agencies.
- The impact of ESG factors on unconventional resources, particularly concerning emissions and water rankings.
- Concepts and ethical concerns about Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.
- Opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation, and value creation through ESG initiatives.
